Bringing Back the Synthesis

Synthesis is Hackett’s Literary Magazine that contains poems, short stories, essays, and more. The Publications and Journalism class is bringing this magazine back to life; the last publication was dated 2011.

All Hackett students are invited to submit their writings to be published in this magazine by emailing Lillian Davis at . In addition to Hackett students, students from Our Lady of the Lake, St. Philip, and Kalamazoo Christian were asked to submit to the magazine as it is one of the only literary magazines in the area.

When students submit their work to the magazine they are also submitting to a competition. The top 3 submissions will be decided by a panel from the journalism and publications class and will receive an Amazon gift card. 1st place gets a $50 gift card, $30 for 2nd, and $20 for 3rd.

The deadline for submitting writing to the magazine is April 1st. This gives students this week as well as spring break to choose their best literary art and ask any questions before the deadline!
