SENIOR SPOTLIGHT: Cassie's on The Case

As a kid, Cassie had a bright imagination. She once believed she had the ability to fly so she jumped off the stairs, which ended with a broken arm, but it's the thought that counts!  She has channeled this creativity and passion into her life goals because when Cassie was little, she wanted to be a mermaid when she grew up. However, this dream has since then changed to becoming a crime scene investigator. She explained that this dream stemmed from her family because both of her parents worked in this field, so she grew up around this unique field of work.

To make this dream come true, Cassie will be attending Kalamazoo Valley Community College. She chose KVCC for her first two years of college because she wants to focus on her pre-rec classes and stay close to home. After her time at KVCC she plans to transfer to Ferris State University. With her dream of becoming a crime scene investigator, she will major in criminal justice and potentially minor in forensics because she feels Ferris State has the best opportunities and a strong program. She also has a personal connection to the University due to several of her family members attending it.

From her time at Hackett, Cassie has learned a lot about herself and those around her. She says “ I learned to open up to others and always be true to myself”. Through this growth, her favorite part of senior year was “the group therapy sessions we had in Dr. Hart-Jansma’s class”.

Throughout Cassie's life, she has looked up to her parents due to their support and care they have always demonstrated. Due to this, she wants to be remembered as someone who can be looked up to as a role model and someone who is always there when a friend needs to talk. With her bright smile and openness to her friends, the Hackett community will miss her dearly.
