D1 as a Freshman?!

At just 15 years old, freshman Lucy Young is already making waves on the basketball court. With a standout season and a Division I offer from Western Michigan University in hand, Young has proven herself as a key player for the team.

"It's really exciting to have this opportunity so early," Young said about her offer. "It just makes me want to work even harder."

Young has been a dominant force this season, averaging 23 points per game and leading her team to victory. Her dedication is evident in the team’s impressive 19-3 record as they head into their second district game against Galesburg next Wednesday. With such a strong performance this season, Young remains focused on teamwork and execution.

"I think it'll be a smooth game if we all work together as a team and play our game," Young said, emphasizing the importance of chemistry on the court.

As the team prepares for the crucial matchup, she admits to feeling both excited and nervous. However, she’s confident in her teammates and their ability to rise to the occasion.

"We've put in the work, and now it's about staying focused and playing with confidence," she said.

Fans won’t want to miss the action next Wednesday as the girls take on Galesburg in what promises to be an exciting district showdown. Be sure to come out and support Young and her teammates as they continue their stellar season!
