Game, Set, Match!

With a relentless battle to the top, Hackett Catholic Prep’s Girls Tennis team is looking up with a successful season so far. They secured a 5-3 win against Richland Gull Lake, followed by a 4-4 tie with Holland, and another 5-3 win against Barren Springs. Then, last Tuesday at Barren Springs, Hackett’s 3-double team of Ella Barry and Angie Borrell and singles player Paige Ziegler pulled out an impressive win.


This past Thursday, our girls admitted defeat to Allegan, but it was a narrow loss, with the team competing until the end. However, this did not have a lasting effect because the girls had an extremely successful weekend at Sparta. Hackett senior Cam Nobis placed first in #1 singles, with Ellie Christian placing first in #2 singles. For #1 doubles, Theresa Keyte and Marissa Toweson were draw-back champions.


Hackett senior and new player Alyse Baughman says, “Tennis has been really fun so far, and I think the team has a lot of potential.” I think it’s safe to say that the rest of our Hackett Girls Tennis projected season is looking very bright.


Coming up this week, on Tuesday, the girls have a match against Kalamazoo Christian, so make sure to wish them good luck and support our Lady Irish!
