Harmony for the Holidays

The Hackett Band is spreading their Christmas cheer with a medley of Christmas songs, featuring every CSGK band.

The concert will first have the Hackett Jazz Band perform two songs, followed by the 6th, 7th, and 8th grade bands performing separately, concluding the night with the Hackett Concert Band playing two Christmas songs.

Previously at the MSU jazz night, the Hackett Jazz Band played four songs, Buckjump, 13 O’clock Jump, It Had to Be You, and Bag’s Groove and received a masterclass by MSU’s Professor Whitaker, which heavily improved the quality of the songs. The Jazz Band will showcase what they learned with two out of the four songs.

The 6th-grade band will take the stage and perform songs from their Method book, along with a few holiday tunes. After that, the 7th-grade band will showcase a collection of holiday songs and a classic, Linus and Lucy. The 8th-grade band will display their take on O Come Emmanuel and a collage of Christmas songs titled A Festive Finale.

The Hackett Concert Band will only perform two Christmas medleys, Holst Christmas and Christmas Festival, as they consist of multiple songs. Holst Christmas, a Holst classic, features In the Bleak Midwinter, Lullay My Liking, and has excerpts from Christmas Day. Christmas Festival features songs such as Joy to the World, Silent Night, God Bless Ye Merry Gentlemen, Jingle Bells, O Come All Ye Faithful, and Hark the Herald Angels Sing.

The Hackett Band will perform in the Hackett Auditorium this Wednesday, December 13th at 7 pm. We hope to see you there!
