Hot Shots

The girl’s soccer team is on a hot streak! So far, they are undefeated with a record of 5-0. On April 4, the girls defeated Constantine 9-1, and later on April 9, beat Our Lady of the Lake 4-2. Last week, Hackett beat Bridgman 8-0 and then traveled to Fennville to claim the 2-0 victory.

Although the season just started, the girls are doing great. During the game against Our Lady of the Lake, the girls were down 0-2 at the half. After a change of mentality at halftime, the Irish were able to come back with a 4-2 victory. This drive to win is what encouraged the Irish to fight against the wind and win against Fennville last Friday, April 12. The energy carried to the next game which was on Monday, April 15 against Lawton. Many girls were out due to sickness and other commitments, but the Irish managed to win 5-1 despite having only a few subs.

Wednesday, April 17 at 5:00, the Irish had a home game against Kalamazoo Christian. Hackett girls soccer had not beaten K-Chriatian in 10 years, so the Irish were fired up to take down the Comets. Again, a few Hackett players are out due to sickness and injuries. The game ended in a tie but it was a well-fought battle and kept everyone on the edge of their seat!

Junior Victoria Ivens still feels confident in the team’s ability to win. She stated: “Easy lock, easy win. W mentality baby.”
