How to Dress for Success

At a school with uniforms, do students really know how to dress? For 36 weeks of the year, school is in session and students are wearing uniforms. This alleviates the stress of figuring out what to wear to school, but does it impair students’ abilities to dress appropriately for events such as interviews, formal dinners, and more? If this sounds like you, some of our students have advice.

There are many ways to elevate your outfit. One of the most important things about dressing up is making sure your outfit goes together and all of the parts of it–shirt, socks, jewelry–go together. It is also beneficial to wear jewelry such as earrings, necklaces, or watches to set yourself apart.

Victoria Ivens attends formal dinners often, and loves to dress up. When asked what advice she’d give, she said that teens should, “Get a second opinion on whether or not your outfit looks okay and always know the dress code.” Getting a second, or third, opinion on your outfit can be a great way to be confident in your outfit. Victoria certainly knows how to dress up and gives this great advice that will help everyone looking to dress up.

Lindsey Piel suggested that students should, “Go shopping if you need to in order to be best prepared!” Going shopping in advance can be a great way to look at a lot of options before a formal occasion or an interview. Lindsey loves to shop, and is always prepared for any event with a formal dress code.

Job interviews can be stressful, so it is best to have an outfit decided in advance. By asking for a second opinion and shopping for an outfit, people can be prepared for their interviews. Formal dinners can also be a great time to dress up, so be sure to prepare!

The most important part of your outfit is your confidence and how you carry yourself. If you prepare for an event, you can go in with confidence and get the most out of the experience. Be prepared and confident!
