Kicking it into high gear

The Irish boys soccer team had a phenomenal start to their playoffs season, with a 1st round win against Kalamazoo Phoenix 7-2. District Semi-Finals against Howardsville Christian was a considerable 4-2 win, advancing the boys to District Finals.
The finals ended up being a rivalry game against Kalamazoo Christian with high stakes: a trophy and bragging rights.
“Feeling good, doing great, hopefully we can get a win, cause obviously we lost last time, so this is our opportunity to show the rest of the state that we can contend for a state championship,” said Captain Cullen McBride, anticipating the game.
His hopes were well placed, as the boys pulled away in the end with a helpful goal from Liam Roth (also a goal by Yair Castro earlier in the game) making the score a 2-1 District win for the third year in a row.
After celebrating their win, they got back to practice to prepare for the next obstacle in their pathway to state, the Bridgman Bees in the Regionals Semi-Final game. But no problem, the Irish swatted the Bees and mercied them 8-0.
The next game to watch out for is the Regional Finals game tomorrow at Portage Northern at 6:30 versus Grandville Calvin Christian. Let’s help our boys keep their momentum and take home another win!
