The Irish were celebrating several wins last week! Starting off Tuesday, Cross Country brought home 3rd for the girls team and 5th for the boys at the Shamrock Invitational, hosted by Berrien Springs. Here is a quote from Katelyn Gillen about the race:
”It went really well, the course was flat so it helped our times, and it was fun cheering on my little sisters in their first race!”
In Boys Tennis, the Irish defeated Buchannan 7-1 on our home courts! Junior Jimmy Kennedy enthusiastically said,
“It was an absolute burial.”
Soccer fought a hard battle against the tough Harper Creek D2 team, which ended in a tie. Some highlights include senior Liam Roth scoring with an assist from sophomore Max Nobis.
Girls Golf placed 7th out of 16 teams at Tullymore. When asked about the invitational, sophomore golfer Coco Zygadlo said,
“It was cold in the morning, but heated up in the afternoon, oh I also got two birdies!”
Congratulations to Girls JV and Varsity Volleyball with huge wins against D1 Loy Norrix! JV won in two straight sets and varsity won in three.
“The game was good, and it was satisfying to come back and beat Norrix when we have lost to them before. I think our energy was really good, and our team was really cohesive!” replied sophomore setter Avery Doerr, when asked what she thought about the win.
This win was very impactful on the Varsity team, seeing as though this is the first time in years that we have been able to beat Loy Norrix.
JV and Varsity United Football both brought home big wins against the Bulldogs of Otsego. The score of the JV game on Thursday at K Christian was 42-22.
“It was a great win, great team effort, easy dub,” announced freshman Liam McCue.
The Varsity away at Otsego on Friday was a shutout, 19-0. We hope to see more wins like this as the season goes on. Go Irish!
