Senior Spotlight: JuJu

When asked to describe Julia Marshall in a few short words Ellie Christian said Julia is, “hardworking, motivated, organized and genuine”. These four words perfectly embody who Julia is as a person.

Julia says that her biggest inspiration is her mom because she always pushes Julia to be the best person possible. This can be seen through Julia’s hard work in school because of her excellent grades, involvement in the Student Leadership Team and National Honors Society.

School is not the only place where Julia’s hard work and motivation comes into play. Throughout the school year Julia maintains a job babysitting 15 children at a church with the help of one other person for once or twice a week.

As mentioned previously Julia is a motivated person which is exemplified because when the school year is done Julia continues to work. Last Summer she worked at the Cherry Hut in Beulah, Michigan as a waitress. She would go back and forth between home and the Cherry Hut, spending around 10 days in each spot before switching between the two. Julia loves working at the Cherry Hut and doesn’t mind the drive because she likes the people she works with and likes getting to meet new people and make friends. Julia will be going back to work at the Cherry Hut this summer, but this time she will be staying there for the entire summer.

When Julia isn’t working she loves to spend time with friends and family, going to the gym, laying in the sun, and going to the lake. She looks forward to participating in one of her favorite traditions this summer, which is going camping in Ludington over the last week of June and first week of July. This tradition started when her grandma would go there at a young age, and now every year Julia’s family goes to Ludington to enjoy a vacation and spend time with family and friends.

In the future Julia would like to live somewhere Up North, like Ludington, or somewhere down south. She would eventually like to get married and have children, but for now Julia will be attending Grand Valley State University in the fall. Although Julia is not 100% sure what she wants to study, she is leaning towards studying to become a nurse. The future holds great things for Julia and we are excited to see her success!
