Are we being stalked, controlled, harassed, by AI? Something really strange is happening on Instagram reels and it's not just by chance. Recently, many people’s Instagram reels have turned completely dark and grotesque, frightening many users. From videos of people being severely injured, death, and extremely inappropriate videos, this sudden change in content has many people wondering what is happening, who has taken over their reels? Why are they so dark and disturbing?

Regarding the unexpected change in content Nolan Silkworth said, “I got onto Instagram Reels and it wasn’t that unusual to see weird stuff but then I noticed every reel was someone getting into a fight, gun violence, cars blowing up, and more. I was really concerned with what happened to the algorithm.” It is unfortunate that young viewers are being exposed to this horror. 

Victoria Ivens also ran into this issue, as her day was ruined, when she opened up Instagram Reels. “Around 9 am I got onto reels and the first video was someone giving birth. I thought it was a one-time thing, but as I kept scrolling the videos got increasingly worse. Gang violence, people bleeding out, just terrible things that weren’t censored at all. 8/10 reels were some kind of gore.”

Think it is still a coincidence? Phillip Haveenar was another student poisoned by the Instagram Reels. “I opened up my reels and the first video I saw was someone giving birth. It was so nasty I closed out of the app for the rest of the week. I opened up TikTok and everything was fine.”

Something has seriously changed with the Instagram Reel algorithm taking it from 0-100 just overnight. Young viewers are being exposed to things no man ever wishes to witness and is ruining their dignity. If you see these horrid reels, report them so this problem can change.
