Was it Luck or was it Superstition?

Here at Hackett everyone has their own way of getting ready for gameday, whether that is to listen to music or meditate before the game. Some students like to collect their thoughts and envision themselves doing good things on the field or on the court. No matter what sport it is, everyone has their own way of getting ready for a game.
Junior Max Gerl says, “Before my baseball games, I run down to the Speedway to grab some energy drinks so that I can get some caffeine in me. Then I get to the field and I put my left cleat on first and then, obviously, right after that I warm up, do some throwing, and then some hitting and once everyone is loose, we play a fun game called tips.”
Junior James Scothorn has developed a different routine. “For my pre-game hockey routine I go through the team stretching routine with the guys after that I go into some static stretching and do a little run and then after that I just listen to music such as Baby Smoove and Gunna and Big X.”
Senior James Whiting says, “I listen to music I listen to 90s rock, such as Alice In Chains, Guns and Roses, and Motley Crew. I put wrist tape on it for my good luck and I put a cross on the tape.”
Junior Justin Tyler Lombardi says, “Before I play a golf tournament, I make sure that I have at least 500 club face contact with the ball and then I will normally get a good sleep and I won't work out the day before. I make sure my body is well rested and well hydrated and spend the least amount of time on my phone.
Senior Abby Ulbrich says, “Before a track meet, I stretch before running, I relax my body, I say a prayer in my head, and I listen to hype music such as SZA 2010 pop. After I listen to music then I take three deep breaths.
Senior Natalie Burhans says, “Usually, Katelyn Gillen and I share airpods and we listen to hype music such as Drake and Travis Scott. When I get to the field and I'm putting on my soccer equipment I have my dad or Coach Mounce tie my shoes. The reason I have them tie my shoes is because they tie them tight and they don't come undone.”
Senior Emma Bartholomew says, “I chill out before my races and get into the zone. I like to focus on breathing to calm my nerves. I try to warm up as best as I can no matter if it is cold or warm. I try to make sure I do my dynamic and static stretches, depending on what event I’m about to do.
