Breaking the Ice

Our Hackett solo ice dancers have some exciting news to share. Both ladies placed in the top ten in their respective levels! They faced some tough competition and even tougher judges, but ultimately proved to be some of the best in the nation.

Senior Lindsey Piel managed to take eighth in the Ravensburger Waltz and seventh in the Tango Romantica Variation. For International Solo Pattern Dance, which combined both of those dances for a final score, she managed seventh place among the best in the country. These are great results, especially considering the difficulties she faced that week. When asked about how her allergic reaction affected her performance, she said,

“I felt a bit weak and I think I would have had more energy and felt stronger if I wasn’t having a reaction. Nuts are my kryptonite. But still, I’m proud of my performances and that I met my goal of getting in the top eight.”

Sophomore Christina Amat placed ninth in the American Waltz and fought for fourth place in the Tango. Her combined results from these amazing performances was seventh overall in Silver Solo Pattern Dance. Her next event was much tougher, but it wasn’t anything she couldn’t handle. She managed eleventh for the Foxtrot and ninth in the Free Dance. Her combined scores settled her in tenth place. This is a strong finish to her year, especially since this is her first season back after battling a serious injury.
