Break a Leg!
This year, Hackett’s fall play is going to look a little different. This is because, unlike any other school, our play is written by one of our own students! Amanda Piel worked tirelessly on an adaptation of The Little Match Girl by Hans Christian Andersen. For the first time, we will have a play that is student-written. While this is an adaptation, writer Amanda Piel promises some unexpected surprises.
When asked about what aspect of her play she is most excited for, Amanda said, “I love the magic element in the story. I think it’s going to be really beautiful onstage.” We certainly have a lot to look forward to!
Mr. Raffery, the theater director, is very excited about this play. He started a Creative Writing class last year, which allowed him to teach playwriting. Amanda excelled in this class, turning a short story into a full-length play. Mr. Rafferty said about the play, “I love how it's an adaptation, but she made it completely her own.”
The Hackett community certainly is looking forward to this new take on the fall play. We are excited to see this representation of the versatility of our students' talents. Come show your support for the play in December!
