Senior Spotlight: James Whiting, A Life Fueled By His Love For Sports

James Whiting has had a love for soccer his whole life; he has been playing ever since he was three years old where he played for AYSO. In fourth grade he joined his first club team at Portage Lightning where he played until recently where he played for T.K.O. This past year James T.K.O. The team went to Texas to play in the NLC National Semifinals!

With James' love for soccer so high it was devastating when he first realized his back was starting to hurt when he played. James went to the doctor where they diagnosed him with a herniated disc which makes the bone pinch all the nerves in his back and also diagnosed with Arthritis. James wasn’t able to play much in his senior season which was devastating for him but he did get to play one half in the district championship match where he helped the Hackett boys to win!

James loves to fish with his friends, read, and loves working at his job at ETS. James said that ETS really made an impact on him as “The culture, the people, the athletes, working there has really solidified my decision on what I want to do in my future. For me, it isn’t working, it's just fun and enjoyable.

Next year James wants to study sports science where he wants to work at ETS, D1 fitness, or other related companies.
