Recruiting For The Future

Getting recruited is the biggest goal for many high school athletes as going to a college to play the sport you love can give you a once in a lifetime opportunity. Being recruited isn't just all about the work you put into your sport but also the work you need to do to reach out to coaches and make your name known to them.

There are many different approaches athletes use to get their name out there, like going on college visits and asking to go meet the coach. Most colleges when you go to visit will give you the option to go meet the coach you want to talk to, so definitely use that to help you get recruited.

Senior James Whiting, who will be playing soccer at Marian College next year, used another approach of going to ID (Identification) camps and college camps. “One of the ways that I used to get recruited was going to camp. The camps gave me many ways to show my talent with many college scouts and coaches watching.” and senior Preston Cosby has used twitter (now X) to help him for baseball, Preston said “you have to know people for sure and talk with them but also for baseball twitter, twitter is the place to be to get recruited”

Recruiting is a big deal for athletes so put in some work and you're sure to find a coach somewhere!
