As a person who articulates herself well, is quick to think, and has always stayed true to herself, Victoria Ivens has the makings of an excellent lawyer.

Victoria plans to study Criminal Justice at Florida International University in the fall to prepare for law school. When asked about her decision, she revealed how the home she grew up in shaped her future.
“I grew up in a law family. My grandma and my mom were both lawyers and my grandpa was a New York police detective. Having so many people with law-based occupations in my family influenced me. I still remember viewing the mannerisms of my mom both in and out of the office.”
While going off to Florida seems like it would take her away from her family, that’s actually not the case. Most of Victoria’s family lives in Miami and she makes a point to visit them at least three times a year. It makes sense that she would want to return to her birthplace, where she lived for four years until her immediate family moved to Michigan.

But college is always a big change, no matter how close or far someone’s family is. To help ease the transition, she plans to continue her favorite hobby to ground her. She will become an excellent addition to a club soccer team in Florida.
“I’ve been playing soccer since I could walk,” Victoria said. She revealed that her dad introduced her to the sport, teaching her the fundamentals and buying her a net. Enjoying the game and realizing her knack for it, Victoria decided to stick with soccer and has become a stellar player on Hackett’s team.
With big plans for the future, and motivation to be the best, Victoria is likely to become a big success. If you’re in need of some advice, you might want to listen to the words of Victoria’s mother and remember them as well as she has. “You’re the person who’s going to carry yourself into the future and no one else.”
