They Got That Dog in Them!
This past weekend the cross country teams raced at KVCC at the fox and hound hosted by Hackett. This meet isn't like any traditional meet because at the fox and hound everyone starts at a different time based on their personal records. Boys and girls run together which gives them a new racing experience.

The slowest runner starts first; they have a certain amount of time before the next runner is sent off which gives the runners an opportunity to gain the fox and/or the hound reward. The fox award is given to the boy and girl who dropped the most time and got a personal record, while the hound award is given to the boy and girl who passed the most runners before finishing.
This year, Kellen Seims won the hound award. When asked about his performance, he said, “It was a very fun race, and to know I passed the most people to win the hound award means I ran a great race.”. Emma Ryker also got the hound award with her great run.
The Irish had first place finishes for both the men and the women. The top finishers were Marek Butkiewicz (16:08:87) and Emma Ryker (20:22:18). Both teams will be back at it this Saturday at the Otsego Bulldog meet where teams from all over the state come together. Go out and cheer on your Irish cross country runners!
